3: Minutes of Previous Meeting 9th October 2019:

4: Business Arising

  • Review of meeting day : To continue with Monday evening meetings. Review at end of daylight saving.

Facebook page out – positive, inclusive image presented

  • Proposal that HCA purchase a yearly subscription to Microsoft Office to have access to current Word, Email and other Office Work tools, to be liscensed to HCA, $129.00 annual plan discussed. Can be installed on 6 computers. Registered to HCA.

Action: Sue to follow up

  • Proposal to consider purchasing an HCA Laptop with current Windows Software discussed. Possibility of obtaining computer via Council – apply via grants system.

Suggestions also made to consider purchase of laminator and printer.

  3. Harold reported that the draft Plan exceeds 3,000 pages – recommends members read and provide input regarding the Plan.

6: Treasurers Report (E. Aliffe)

  • Current balance is $6028.00. Outgoings - $274.80, income $66.00.

  • Motion: Secretary Sue O'Brien to be added as signatory to HCA's cheque account. Moved E. Aliffe, seconded H. Gallasch. All in agreement

7: Reports 2019/20

7:1 Council: Cr. N Hardingham

  • Council under criticism for tree removal at new Sports Hub site. Stressed the need for feedback from the Community during consultation period. General discussion regarding need to make submissions during consultations.

  • TDU Race Start. Womens TDU (WTDU) starts in Hahndorf Main Street. Opportunity to demonstrate Community spirit and broader engagement. Eg Best Dressed Towns

Discussion re past experiences, Traders’ willingness to participate if given decorations, possibility of using HCA funds to sponsor schools, possibility of sausage sizzle to raise funds.(Lions provide breakfast prior to start).

Mike suggests working party look at options

  • Cr Leach reported on Grants Committee - $2500.00 for lights for stage in Institute, and $2500.00 for Music Room for Town Band.

7:2 Heritage

  • Plan now available – Heritage Sub-committee to meet & develop questions

Action: Heritage sub-committee – Harold to coordinate

7:3 Township Plan

  • No further developments

  • Council's Senior Open Space & Urban Designer to be involved with planning for the community land on Fairview Road.

  • Beautification of Main Street – collating information, resident's views have been heard regarding lights, seating and paving.

7:4 Events Update

  • Malcolm commented on the successful Remembrance Day service and function, and thanked all helpers.

  • Janet commented that handover from Ann Haines had been most helpful. 85 at the Service, 42 at Morning Tea, 21 wreaths made. A report, and the speech given by Meredith Wyles will be published in Village Voice.

  • Cr Hardingham queried whether the Hahndorf Town Band could be engaged in future.

7:5 DPTI Traffic Study

  • Cr Hardingham – data is still being collated

  • Action: Malcolm to follow up with Dan Cregan MP, re progress.

8: General Business

  • Responsible persons to meet and report to Secretary for distribution – Information to Sue

  • Sub-committees to meet as indicated and report back at next meeting.

9: HCA Working Groups

9:1 Village Voice. W Williams

  • Next issue will be out at end of November

  • Eric and Phil expressed concern that the publication is too big

  • Julie suggested a limit of 250 words per article, with a link provided for further information

9:2 Events. Jan Kentish

  • TDU – Sue and Jan to meet with Andy Glen

  • Focus on WTDU

  • Liaise with Traders

  • Hahndorf's 180th Anniversary this year

9:3 Strempel Avenue Verge Landscaping Project. J Germano

  • Plants growing well. Waiting on bench from Men's Shed

  • Further $1000.00 grant received – to spend during Spring 2020

  • Jean will water and weed during summer

9:4 Yantaringa Reserve. P O’Brien

  • No further news

  • Cr Hardingham to arrange meeting with Nathan and Hayley, Senior Open Space & Urban Designer

9:5 Community Grant Projects. (proposed)

  • 2 Grant Programmes per year

  • Suggest check alternative grant projects

9:6 Village Autumn Dinner.

  • Discussion re options

  • Suggest autumn dinner, outside

  • Suggest Academy area, beautified

  • Suggest Lantern Festival concert have Cabaret style seating

10: Other Business:

10.1 Bushfire Safety Zone?

  • John queried safety zones in event of bushfire

  • Main Street, Academy Carpark and St Michael's School Oval are safe zones

10.2. Parking in Auricht Road

  • Gail raised concern that vehicles parked in Auricht Rd make egress from houses extremely dangerous.

  • Cr Leach has forwarded similar concerns to Council

10.3. Pine and Main Street intersection

  • Peter expressed concern regarding sightlines at the intersection of Pine Street and Main Street.

  • Suggested he write to Jamie Tan, Council Safety Officer, with copy to Crs Hardingham and Leach.

10.4. Council Position

  • Cr Leach advised that the Council has declared a Climate Emergency.

  • He is concerned regarding bushfire risk in the district.

10.5. Community Engagement

  • Sue suggests it is vital to engage the community in HCA.

  • General discussion re strategies, use of social media, consideration of What's App linkage

  • Mike suggests adding ‘Publicity’ item to Agenda

  • Eric is keen to recognise the Kaesler family, has been talking with IGA owner re options.
