Minutes of Committee Meeting held Wednesday October 10th 2018

at 9.30am In the Hahndorf Institute Supper Room.

Chairman Malcolm welcomed all, with particular mention to visitors.

3. Minutes of Previous Meeting August 8th [AGM September]

Due to number of visitors Chairman Malcolm presented a verbal summary of minutes, highlighting committee concern regarding Heritage matters in Hahndorf.

4. Business Arising.

4.1 - Hahndorf National Trust Submission to Government. Tabled for reading.

4.2 - Plaque for recognition of John Buchan’s input to design of Pioneer Park.

5. Correspondence

In: Hahndorf National Trust Submission to Government.

Noted that next meeting Is October 17th at 7.30pm. Dinner at 6.30pm.

DCMB invitation/ notification re Volunteer training workshop.

Out: To Dan Cregan, regarding $1,000,000 federal money allocated to feasibility study for on/off ramps. This money must be protected.

Future meeting with Jude Formston DPTI to be set. Resident perspective is needed.

Correction (See 14 Nov 2018 Minutes) - Auditor is not an Officer. Secretary is the only Officer’s position not filled. Minute or Correspondence Secretary are only temporary titles. Sarenah Gallasch will be nominated to the Committee in November.

Any resident with 3 months residency is eligible to join the HCA. Outside persons whom committee regards as having an interest may be invited to participate.

NB: Motion that “Jean’s strong input, and clear communication with residents and Council be recorded with thanks” - Moved Bruce 2nd Mike.

Acknowledged : Eric’s long term and particular financial management.

7. Reports.

Chairman explained the structure and reporting purposes.

7.1 - Council. Jeff.

i. no economic decisions can be made, due to election mode. Reports only.

ii. Grant application in progress toward Main St. Lighting. 2020 possible effect.

iii. Two sets of federal money offered. a. Globe Link. $100 million

b. Hahndorf Run offs. $1 million for feasibility study for ramps.

iv. Waste Management. Likely fee increase due to China rejection of waste.

Solo is seeking to increase waste collection by extra $230.000. Negotiations being undertaken with Councils.

v. Natural Gas likely to be piped to Mt Barker.

vi. General rail traffic increasing rapidly across state. Current hills track is unable to carry the double height containers.

vii. Details of changes to Heritage has not been progressed. Concern at damage and destruction of sites and buildings under Planning laws.

Chairman thanked Jeff for his representation on Council.  Applause.

7.2 - Events Remembrance Day Ceremony. Ann reported on behalf of Janet.

Risk Management Plan accepted, $500 from DCMB .Safety matters covered by application to police, St Johns, Council signage. Fliers to be delivered to households, notices in shops, press , schools and churches notified. Morning tea in Institute.

Volunteers required Thursday to plant poppies, Friday wreath making, Saturday set up hall . Catafalque Party support granted .Woodside soldiers will present.

7.3 - Financial Closing Balance. $5120.00. Receipts. Ward Donation, V V advertising.

Expenses AGM costs $145.00

Village Voice [Wendy] $59.00

Moved Eric, 2nd Bruce that report be received.

Eric’s financial management recognised by acclamation.

7.4 Township Plan. - As per digital report from Jean to members.

7.5 Village Voice. - No response to succession plan request. Commence direct invitation. December edition commenced.

8. General Business.

8.1 Bruce brought attention to the essential shop front businesses in Hahndorf: viz IGA, PO and Newsagent. Discussion re others. Manager IGA to be invited to attend November meeting. (Action Bruce)

Committee mindful that normal commercial businesses are not HCA concern, but some are critical to the town people.

IGA Management supports community and sporting groups in addition to convenience shopping. Newsagent carries library, local contact and photo copying facility. PO is a banking and payment facility, together with community communication strength. Each has no parallel competitor.

9. Any Other Business.
