CARR, Stanley Captain (//-//). Retired Army officer from England and Germany. Member of most Agricultural societies in Britain and Germany. Recommended that Harz miners migrate to Adelaide and intending sheep farmers migrate to Pt Phillip. Owned much land in Germany, which he had sold, and chartered the Alfred, to bring out some of his people. He appears to have been a recruiting agent in Germany. (Observer 4 & 11/5/1850). He was still in Australia when 6/9/1850 at the bride’s mother’s house, Mölln, Duchy of Lauenburg, his adopted daughter, Emma Adela Williams Carr, married Baron Magnus Frederick Baker de LÖSECKE, Captain in the Ducal Lauenburg Rifles. The Lord President of the Duchy (Count Louis Kielmansegge) gave the bride away in the absence of her father.

They became the parents of Auguste Victoria, the last Empress of Germany.
