Buddhist Temple of Alameda is located in grand historic white Victorian at 2325 Pacific Avenue.

According to the Alameda Times Star [of 6/4/1976], in 1916, an Alameda Temple was formed, separate from the Oakland Temple. It was originally in a store-front on Park Street, then the 2325 Pacific Ave., location was purchased from former Alameda mayor, Edward Kimberlin Taylor. During "...World War II, when all Japanese were removed from the Pacific coast. ...the buildings and grounds were taken over by the U.S. Navy for use as a training school."1  The temple was recovered after the war.

The house was built in 1886 by Ingerson and Gore for $4,500, with alterations and additions in 1896 by A.W. Cornelius the cost of $1,380. The architect of the building was George A. Bordwell. The original owner was W.T.S. Ryer, profession listed as "real estate, S.F.2
