The mission of the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor is to encourage, foster, and implement the ideals of Rotary International in Ann Arbor and throughout the world in ways that enhance the quality of life and human dignity, create greater understanding among all people, and advance the search for peace. In all of our activities, we abide by the highest ethical standards and always be guided by the Rotary principle of "Service Above Self."

Fifteen charter members founded the club in 1916, only 11 years after the first Rotary Club was organized in Chicago . Currently, more than 300 men and women belong to our club. We are one of 32,066 Rotary clubs worldwide and only about 70 of those clubs are larger than ours. In Michigan, only the Grand Rapids and Traverse City clubs have more members.

Meetings are held every Wednesday in the Anderson Room of the Michigan Union. There are no meetings the week of Art Fair and the weeks of Christmas and New Year's.

The Ann Arbor Rotary Club serves in many different ways, including:

• funds college scholarships for local high school students;
• helps raise funds and collect food for Food Gatherers;
• funds international projects, such as the Lignap Center for children in the Phillipines; and
• participates in Rotary International's Polio Plus program, whose goal is to eradicate polio throughout the world.
