History

In 1972, Patricia Kay formed Problem Pregnancy Help, Inc. to give material aid and support to women facing unexpected pregnancies. The budding organization was housed in Ann Arbor's Father Pat Jackson House. Over the years, Problem Pregnancy Help developed into Pregnancy Help Center, which, at its new location on Packard Rd., continued to offer material support services and also operated a crisis hotline for women. Recently, the Board of Directors responded to the need for crisis pregnancy intervention on the University of Michigan campus by opening an additional location — ArborVitae Women's Center — in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor, focused on encouraging women experiencing unexpected pregnancy to avoid using abortion or other family planning strategies. While Pregnancy Help Center continues to offer its vital services from the Packard Road location, ArborVitae offers on-site pregnancy testing, ultrasound, and pregnancy consultation to abortion-vulnerable women.
