William Adams Close Jr.

December 28, 1943 - August 19, 2012

William A. "Bill" Close, Jr. passed away suddenly on Friday, August 17, 2012 at his home in Ann Arbor. He was 68, the son of William A. and Mildred O. Close. Bill attended the Ann Arbor Schools, graduating from Ann Arbor High School in the Class of 1962, and attended the University of Michigan. 

During his lifetime he pursued the following occupations: carpentry work as an independent contractor; drove taxi; managed the Fifth Forum Theater; and was co-owner of the Fleetwood Diner in Ann Arbor. 

He loved music of all kinds, was an avid reader and pusuer of knowledge, enjoyed travel, was active in hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and physical fitness.

Survivors include his son, Colin (Frances Martinez) and granddaughters Francesca and Presley of Alameda, CA; sister Alice Close of Vail, Arizona; former wife, Jennifer Lessels (John Stetz) of Prescott, MI; sisters-in-law Linda Lessels (John Gardner) of Santa Barbara, CA; Chris McKinney (John) of San Luis Obispo, CA; Sue Verschoyle of Guilford, Surrey, England; several nieces and nephews, and his many friends.
Cremation has taken place and burial will take place in the family plot in Northern Michigan next summer.
