Cabrio Properties, based on South Main Street, purchased six apartment buildings in 2013, expanding its multifamily portfolio by 60 units. The company’s strategy includes renovating its newly acquired units to increase demand and help compete with the high-rise developments downtown.
“We’ve invested millions of dollars into renovating properties that needed renovation, in order to lift up the quality of the property that we can offer our residents,” said Jason Costello, Cabrio’s president.

Former Amvest Properties executives Rob Spears and Jason Costello formed their own management company, taking oversight of 13 commercial properties with them into the new venture.
Cabrio Properties, which opened in August, will manage the buildings totaling 380,000 square feet, including historic downtown Ann Arbor buildings at 202 E. Washington and 303 S. Main.
