David E. Davis (1930-2011) was an Ann Arbor based automotive journalist. His experience within the automotive industry included work as a race car driver, factory worker, car salesman, writer, and publisher. Time magazine called Davis the "dean of automotive journalists." He was the founder of Automobile Magazine and online magazine Winding Road, and both former editor of subsequent columnist/contributor to Car and Driver magazine. His memoir, "Thus Spake David E." was published in 1999. He passed away March 27, 2011.
