David R. Bates teaches middle school science for the Dearborn Public Schools and sits on the Ypsilanti Community Schools board. He served on the Board of Education for the Ypsilanti Public Schools from 2006 through the merger of that district with Willow Run Schools in 2012, serving as President of the Board from 2007.
After the merger, he was selected by a WISD panel to serve on the initial board of the new district, and is seeking election to a 6 year term in the November 2014 election on the "Ypsilanti First Choice" slate.
