The Division of Public Safety and Security is the result of a reorganization of the University of Michigan's Division of Public Safety (DPS), University of Michigan Hospital Security, and Housing Security under a single director. The reorganization was announced at the October 2012 Board of Regents meeting, in the wake of an investigation into the handling of the Stephen Jenson child pornography case.
