Julia Donovan Darlow is a local attorney and University of Michigan regent. She was first elected as regent in November 2006, after being nominated as a candidate by the Michigan Democratic Party. She is past chair of the board. Her eight-year term ends January 1, 2015. She is not running for re-election.

She was an attorney for 33 years with Dickinson Wright in Detroit, focusing on international and domestic business transactions and corporate governance. She worked for two years with Varnum, Riddering, Schmidt & Howlett in Novi, focusing on nonprofit organizations.
Darlow received her undergraduate degree from Vassar College in 1963 and a law degree from Wayne State University Law School in 1971.

Regent Darlow has served in leadership positions on many for profit and nonprofit governing boards and on the founding boards of several institutions serving women and girls. She served as president of the State Bar of Michigan (the first woman elected to this position), as chair of the board of Hutzel Women's Hospital and on the boards and executive committees of the Detroit Medical Center and Marygrove College. She also served on the Michigan Bilateral Trade Team for Germany, on the State Officers' Compensation Commission, and on the International Women's Forum Global Affairs Committee. Among her current positions, she is a member of the Michigan Opera Theatre Board of Directors and the Detroit Bar Foundation Board of Trustees.
Darlow and her husband, John Corbett O'Meara, have six children. The couple currently lives in Ann Arbor Township. O'Meara is a judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. He was nominated to that post in 1994 by President Bill Clinton. His courtroom is located in the federal building on East Liberty in Ann Arbor.
