The Ann Arbor Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will hold its 14th Annual Juneteenth Celebration on June 21, 2008 from noon until 6:00pm at Wheeler Park in Ann Arbor. The event will feature performances by local talent, games, children's area, vendors and activities for the entire family!

Hosted by the Ann Arbor Chapter of the NAACP, the event is a chance to educate, said chapter president William Hampton. He grew up in Texas where Juneteeth - which falls on June 19, but is typically celebrated the third Saturday of June - is a state holiday and is often celebrated with parades and large picnics.
