What do you know about M36 Coffee Roasters, a coffee roastery in Whitmore Lake? 

The company formed after the Covid-inspired shutdown and end of Espresso Royale Caffe in 2020, and continues to roast its blends. They also operate a cafe on South U at East U on the McDivitt-White Plaza, where Cava Java and a subsequent ERC used to be which opened in 2021.

After buying the roaster, Pargulski and Tuveson said their initial goal was to continue selling their coffee to grocery stores and other remaining Espresso Royale locations in Urbana-Champaign, Ill. When the opportunity came to lease the old Espresso Royale location, Pargulski said they were excited to return to their roots.

The name

M36 Coffee Roasters is named after the Michigan highway M-36, the highway that passes by their roasting plant.
