Mary Mellos (December 10, 1932 - May 3, 2012).

Born December 10, 1932 in Mavrikion, Arkadia, Greece. Mother, Yiayia (grandmother), and beloved wife passed away quietly surrounded by her family members at her side on May 3, 2012 at the age of 79. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Vasiliki Alexakos; and husband, Aristidis. Surviving are her son, Nicholas and his wife Naomi Mellos; Grandson, Aristidis Mellos; her brother, Louis Alexakos; her sister, Angie and her husband, Bill Demakis; and many other loving family members and friends.

Mrs. Mellos immigrated with her family to the United States in 1947 to seek the American dream. Following her marriage in 1953, she moved to Port Huron, MI from Chicago, IL and started a joint career in Restaurant ownership with her husband, Art. After selling the "Tasty Bar-B-Q" they moved to Ann Arbor, MI and bought the "Curtis Restaurant" where the "Full Moon Cafe" is presently located. Subsequently they remodeled and changed the name to "Curtis Beef Buffet". Following the sale of their restaurant, Mary worked until her retirement for the city of Ann Arbor as a parking garage attendant downtown.

Mary was an active member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and enjoyed baking Greek pastries, sewing, picnicking, and visiting family and friends. A kind, thoughtful, loving person, she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Family visitation will be held at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 S 4th Ave, Ann Arbor from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Trisiagon Service at 7:30 p.m. on May 7, 2012. The Greek Orthodox funeral service will be conducted on May 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. by Father Nicos Kotsis at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Ann Arbor. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make contributions to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church or the in memory of Mrs. Mellos.
