Shannan Gibb-Randall - Ann Arbor

Shannan Gibb-Randall is a landscape architect and principal at InSite Design Studio Inc. in Ann Arbor.

She is on the Sept. 21, 2015 agenda for appointment by the Ann Arbor city council to serve on the Ann Arbor planning commission, filling the remainder of Eleanore Adenekan's term through June 30, 2017. Adenekan had resigned earlier in 2015. Gibb-Randall was nominated to the position by mayor Christopher Taylor at the council's Sept. 8, 2015 meeting.

Gibb-Randall also serves on the Ann Arbor design review board. She was a member of the Ann Arbor public art commission's artist selection committee that chose Traven Pelletier to build metal tree sculptures in West Park, funded by the city's Percent for Art program.

InSite Design Studio specializes in sustainable site construction and ecologically sensitive design. Gibb-Randall has worked on a variety of local projects, including two branches of the Ann Arbor District Library (Pittsfield and Malletts Creek), and landscaping for the 618 S. Main residential development. She also organized the installation of two rain gardens at Bach Elementary School.

Gibb-Randall teaches courses in rain garden construction and is a frequent speaker on issues of sustainable design.

She lives on Ann Arbor's west side near West Park and the city's Hannah Nature Area. She is married to Tom Gibb-Randall, an elementary school teacher who for several years ran a Shakespeare summer camp for kids. They have two sons, Ethan and Sam.

June 1, 2012: Is appointed to the Ann Arbor design review board, filling the remainder of a term held by Mary Jucari through May 30, 2015. She was nominated to that position by then-mayor John Hieftje.
2011-2012: Works as a volunteer with 555 Nonprofit Gallery and Studios, a group that explored a collaboration between the greenway and art communities for adaptive reuse of the city-owned 415 W. Washington property.
