The Environment page should be a place where anyone can inform everyone else about anything going on around the Boise area that has to do with the environment. And since "the environment" is such a broad scope, there is anticipation that some sub-groups will possibly be created from this main page. Much adding of content is hoped for!

To start things off, I would like to inform Boise about a new student organization at Boise State University. It is the Student Environmental Management Association (SEMA). It is a student-run club that is open to ANYONE -student or not- in any career field that has an interest in being involved with helping the Earth to be a better, more sustainable place to live.

So far we have been involved in two community events: We organized a park cleanup at Discovery Park as well as performing erosion control on the banks of the Boise river at the park. We then assisted the Idaho Fish and Game in planting thousands of sagebrush and bitterbrush starts to revive an area that had recently burned (due to natural causes).

Throughout the Summer of 2013 and beyond SEMA will continue organizing events and partnering with other environmentally  conscious organizations within the Boise community. In order to keep our efforts strong we encourage involvement from all who are interested. To get in touch and stay in touch, please visit us and like us!
