Moses Alexander was born in Obrigheim, Bavaria on November 13th, 1853, and immigrated to the United States in 1868, at the age of 15. He moved to Boise in 1891 at 38, where he opened a men’s clothing store on 9th and Main. He served as mayor from 1897-1899, and 1901-1903, and went on to become the first Jewish Governor of Idaho during World War I.
