The Pierce Park Trail is one of Boise's best secert hiking trails. It is not a designated trail so it is not on any maps. The trail has a easy to moderate 3-mile loop (there are options to go further)that offers great views of Boise and the surronding hills. There are some elevation changes so you will be climbing a little bit. The trail is used by hikers, mtn bikers and people on horse back. Everyone brings their dogs and has them off leash but be ready for horses if your dog is not familiar with them. The trail head is located on Pierce Park road just north of the Hill road intersection. About a 1/4 mile north of Hill road there is a parking area on the right hand side. The trail head is adjacent to the parking area. Once you enter the gate at the trail head apporximately 50ft up there will be a split. Veer to the right for the easier, longer climb. There are a couple of junctions and you can go either way. I suggest trying them all, you won't get lost and you can find out for yourself which way you prefer. There is a spot for your dogs to get water about a 1/2 mile in to the hike. The stream is just off to the right of the trail, usually dogs go right for it. There are plenty of different routes you can take so have fun and explore.
