The North End of Boise is the neighborhood directly north of downtown. It is bounded by Fort Street and Ellis Street on the south, Hill Road on the north, 4th Street on the east, and 28th street on the west. The North End was the first residential neighborhood in Boise, having been plotted in the 1880s. 

Today it is known as one of the very few liberal bastions in Boise (along with the East End and the near Bench neighborhoods). Its proximity to the foothills makes it a great jump-off point for mountain bikers and hikers.
