WCA “Taking Flight” statue- The “Taking Flight” statue is at the Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation Plaza which is located at the southwest corner of the Women’s and Children’s Alliance building at 720 W. Washington Street in downtown Boise, Idaho 83702. The sculpture was a recent addition to the property funded by the Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation. The artist of the sculpture taking flight are the volunteers from the Boise Sculptor’s Guild and managed by Prentiss Cutler, Marshal Sinclaire, and Professor Francis Fox of Boise State University. The statue features a mother holding a butterfly and two young children while looking up into the sky. It stands about 5 feet 9 inches in height, 4 feet wide and is made out of bronze. The statue was added to the property in September of 2011. The Taking Flight statue represents new beginnings and hope on the horizon for the victims whom the WCA provides services to.

The Women’s and Children’s Alliance provides services to men, women, and children who are escaping domestic abuse and/or sexual assault. The Women’s and Children’s Alliance crisis program is a well known, highly effective, and important part of the Boise Community. WCA is considered to be the leader in providing needed services to the victims of sexual and domestic violence.

Mission The Women’s and Children’s Alliance exists to provide safety, healing and freedom to victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault.
