Blackbird Sweets is an independent bakery locally owned and operated by Andrea Amodeo, a professional cake artist. These edible pieces of art have been delighting customer's plates for over 8 years and is continuing to grow. Whither its a birthday, shower, bachelorette or wedding. Blackbird Sweets is the place to go. Blackbird Sweets delivers confection perfection and wow factor with every bite. Andrea started this business at home, so she was able to be at home with her kids. Once her kids went to school, that was when she decided to expand and move to her first location on Connecticut street, later moving to the Hertel location. She learned most of her skills from her mom, who was an artist. She said her favorite part of her job is talking to customers, experiementing to create new flavors, and making sure everything that comes out of this bakery is done in it's entirety by her.

However, Blackbird Sweets is more than just cupcakes and sweets, it actually carries pasta as well! The Pasta Peddler, owned and operated by Andrea's husband and father, is also part of the Hertel location. Instead of being two separate locations, they decided to combine the two buinsesses into one location, to make them unique from other bakeries. The Pasta Peddler's menu is based around gourmet pasta, sauces and ravioli. The Roasted Red Pepper soup that is also found on the menu is made by using Pasta Peddler roasted red pepper sauce, along with the basic stuffed pepper soup. However soup, along with pizza, are typically only served on Saturday during the Winter Farmers Market.

When you do so, it will take you to a place where you can submit you name, email address and reason for contacting. There is a box where you can leave a small message for Andrea that will be sent to her email.

Blackbird Sweets

Here is one of the many wedding cakes Andrea has done! This was done for a client who wanted both cake and cupcakes at their fall themed wedding! The cupcake holder that is shown in this picture is actually owned by Pearl Street Bar and Grill. Andrea will soon have three very similar cupcake holders for her own use!

Blackbird Sweets has a wide variety of different flavors! Here are some of the most popular ones!

Blueberry Cheesecake, Pumpkin Pie, Blackbird, Sparkling Sarah (portion of each sale donated to The Sarah Throp Action Scholarship Fund), Snowball-Coconut, Eggnog, Carrot Cake, Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Birthday Cake

It's important to make note that Blackbird's flavors are always changing! These flavors are the ones featured on the website, while the most current flavors are featured on Blackbird's Instagram! Flavors can change depending on what holiday might be right around the corner or what Andrea has experiemented with and created! Andrea says she never wants her customers to have the same experience twice, so that's why flavors are always changing!

Cake Request

All cake request must be completed and submitted online. Since everything Andrea makes is custom, there is no set price scale for cakes. You are asked to submit a cake request form on the website that explains what your event is and what exactly you are looking for. This request will be sent to Andrea's email, where she will later review your request. You are asked to leave contact information so Andrea can go over details and prices for your request. It is also important to know that not all cake request may be done, due to scheduling and other factors. Andrea also accepts request from people out of town, saying that over half her cake requests come from brides outside the Buffalo area. At that point, Andrea will work with you to figure out what steps need to be taken to ensure that you are getting the cake and service that you want.

I have tried a lot of bakeries in buffalo but none hold a candle to black bird sweets! I'm addicted to these cupcakes! They're always moist and the frosting is too good. We've also tried their fresh pasta which was also amazing! I love this place! We've been beyond satisfied with everything we've tried here! Can't go wrong with black bird sweets and the workers are all so sweet (pun intended)
So delicious! I'm pretty picky about my cupcakes, and these are no joke insanely good. The other baked goods are pretty amazing as well! It's a great local family business who really cares a lot about the neighborhood too. Awesome people!
The cafe is adorable and the cupcakes are the best in the city. The owner is warm and welcoming. Well worth stopping in when your out and about on Hertel!
By far the best baked goods in Buffalo and love the markets on the weekend to get more exposure for other local businesses. Their pasta is pretty terrific too!
