CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is executed in Buffalo by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo, a private nonprofit organization, whose CASA unit

" ... gives voices to children who are abused, neglected and can not speak for themselves. A program of Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo, it deals with children involved with Erie County Family Court. The program is affiliated with a nationwide CASA initiative that promotes the interests of children in the Family Court System. CASA's mission is to advocate for abused and neglected children in Family Court. CASA's community volunteers investigate, protect and promote children's well being - one child at a time. The overall goal of the program is to assist in finding permanency, as soon as possible, for abused and neglected children placed in foster care by using CASA volunteers.

CASA volunteers work closely with attorneys and social workers, as well as reviewing records, researching information and talking to those involved with the child. Volunteers also present recommendations to a judge."
