Living in downtown Buffalo, you will find many book shops, yoga studios, restaurants, and locally owned establishments, offering the best to the Buffalo public. If you are looking for a pet shop in the Elmwood/ Allentown area to bring your dog or cat, then Elmwood Pet Supply is the perfect place. Elmwood Pet Supply has been around for over 70 years. Opening in the 1940s, and changing ownership in the 1980's. I think it's safe to say that there must be something extra special about this shop to keep it running for so long. One of the workers, Josh, who has been working at the stores for over 10 years says, "they have the largest selection of all natural dog and cat food which keeps them going." Not to mention it's a toy, and treat wonderland for your little friend.

Their service alone sets them far apart from any type of department store. They offer complementary dog, or cat tags. I'm sure if you had a different animal, they wouldn't mind making them a tag as well. The shop alone is magical looking, and you can only imagine what it must be like for my dog. The walls are lined with pet toys, pet food, dog treats, cat treats, and pet clothing. They also have dog treats you can buy individually, so you, and your little pooch can choose which treat you like the most. 

Photo by Brittany SchmidleThis is by far the nicest place to pick up your dog, cat, ferret, or hamster food. They offer unlimited samples of the dry dog food, so you can take a variety of food home to see what food your pet loves the most. Then, you can go back, and buy the big, value size bags.

As you will see on their website, all of the food brands that they carry are top ranked by Whole Dog Journal. Which is quite an accomplishment for a neighborhood pet supply store.
 

The wide variety of pet clothing that they offer far surpasses any of the other pet supply stores as well. They offer winter gear for dogs which include hooded down jackets, and dog booties. They also have spring, and fall Jackets for the first signs of spring, and the beautiful fall breeze. There are raincoats there for your little pooches who don't like getting wet as well.

Elmwood Pet Supply is also active in pet adoption. As you walk by their store, there are pictures posted in the front window of the many puppies, dogs, and cats that need adoption as well. So, if your heart is feeling extra passionate as you pass by, you might inquire about these many adoption choices.

As far as live pets for sale goes, Elmwood Pet Supply offers a wide variety of fish, and a variety of different aquarium options to make your new fish feel "at home". So, Elmwood Pet Supply is the perfect place to stop if you have little kids, or if you have a personal interest in fish gazing as well.

With their long standing Buffalo reputation, they have also managed to win a variety of local awards as well. They have been featured in Best of Artvoice, Best of Buffalo, and Best of Yelp as well. 

Walking by, you will see two, or three large cats in the front window. Going inside, you are able to reach your hand in, and pet them. This makes Elmwood Pet Supply almost like a mini fieldtrip for your kids.  

Don't hesitate to bring the family dog in as well. The cashiers, and workers are definitely pet- friendly. Dogs love it here, with treats at the register, and the extra attention they receive from the staff. Oh, what we wouldn't do to keep the little pooches happy?
