Overview
Possibly the best kept secret of Buffalo's Old First Ward area, Undergrounds Coffee House & Roastery is a new kind of coffee experience. Opening in 2016, Undergrounds is a coffee house and cafe that occupies an old funeral home. Cleverly, it boasts a Day of the Dead theme and offers dozens of coffee and food options. They have gluten free and vegan options too!
History
Bill Metzger, Sara Heidinger, and Bridget Morris founded Undergrounds Coffee House & Roastery after combining their passions of coffee, the Old First Ward, and customer service. Bill Metzger brought his talent of coffee brewing while Sara Heidinger was more interested in reviving Buffalo's Old First Ward. Bridget Morris has 15 years in customer service with focus in restaurants, bar, and coffee. When a local funeral home came up for sale, the trio leapt from their graves to buy the property and awaken plans to create a once in a lifetime experience .... every time! This is entirely possible, of course, when you’re as close to heaven’s gate as Undergrounds Coffee House & Roastery intends to be. So ready your coffee cups, dear readers, the dead are coming to life, thanks to the flavorful cups of caffeine we will brew for you!
Roastery Club
Undergrounds features a monthly membership called the Roastery Club that honors the space of the old funeral home.
They only ask one question of you...If you could have coffee with one notable deceased person who would it be?
Your answer provides you with:
Roastery Club Mugs

- 10% discount on food, drink, and retail purchases
- 1 FREE lb bag of coffee once a year

This special membership club requires a yearly subscription payment of $100.
Menu
They offer a yearly menu that features the classic coffee options, lattes, teas, protein shakes, all day breakfast, sandwiches, salads, and also a seasonal menu with special options like a nutella macchiato or apple chai tea latte that always changes with the weather.
