WGR Sports Radio 550 is a local sports talk radio station in Buffalo, NY. Owned by Entercom Radio, it is the official flagship station of both the Buffalo Bills (NFL) and the Buffalo Sabres (NHL). It can be found on AM radio at 550 AM or streamed on WGR550.com and Radio.com. WGR's signal is powered at 5,000 watts and can be reached from Toledo, Ohio to Watertown, NY. 

It is the only sports radio station in Buffalo with daily local programming on both weekdays and weekends.

Sporting events

WGR also airs local sporting events including every game from the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres. Buffalo Bandits lacrosse, Buffalo Bisons baseball, and local college sports are also featured on the air waves.

History

WGR began broadcasting around Western New York and Southern Ontario in 1922. It is the oldest running station in Buffalo. 

News to Sports: WGR competed with 930 WBEN as a news and talk radio station until the 1990s when the station moved in the direction of sports. 550 acquired the radio broadcast rights to the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, and the Buffalo Bisons from 1990 to 1994. 

WGR officially moved to all-sports programming in 2000.
