El Tecolote is a Camarillo staple. This place has great food at reasonable prices in a relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. The side dining room, a now enclosed patio, features a fountain with changing colors which is a hit with kids of all ages. Coins collected from the fountain are donated to charity.
Their menu mainly has traditional Mexican favorites. They have recently expanded their menu to include lighter fare and vegetarian options. Their food is excellent and traditionally prepared.
This restaurant has been locally owned and operated since it's opening in 1946. They frequently employ high school and college students on their waitstaff and welcome families. If it's your birthday and you're a Hal-n-Peño Club Member, you can get a personal confetti cake and the staff will sing you a silly birthday song, accompanied by a small boombox.
