Old Town Rootbeer Company was a small southern California chain that made its first northern California debut in Chico, CA. It was a family friendly eatery with alcoholic alternatives: root beer! The root beer company sold a wide variety of the sweet fizzy non-alcoholic soft drink made popular during Prohibition. They served it on tap or you could buy individual bottles. In addition, they had meals such as homemade calzones, fried sweet potatoes, baked potatoes, and hot dogs.

The restaurant was at the location where the Riff Raff used to be some years ago.

I have biked past the store several times over the past few months to see a "For Rent" sign in the window, the number is disconnected and the website for the parent company is gone. Yet, I can find no evidence of it closing anywhere online, and in fact urbanspoon and yelp both have reviews of it less than a month old. Am I missing something? —24.2.35.126
