La Lucha Space is a community organization dedicated to the co-production of local food, music, art and information. You can come to la lucha to eat, have a music show or screen a film. La Lucha is always something different; the potential to get involved and create in your community.

The organization has a website that is volunteer run and is working to encourage community members to use the website much as they do the physical space - in creative and collaborative ways.  Visit and contribute at http://laluchaspace.com

The organization has its headquarters on the corner of Donaghey and Prince at 2035 Prince. (Parking off Donaghey, limited - please come on bike, foot or -if the others can't be, carpool- whenever possible).

Vision Statement

Empowered local communities working together globally towards a more just and sustainable world.

Mission Statement

To create and strengthen communities of co-producers in Central Arkansas focusing on food security, cultural production, and economic opportunity for local producers with an emphasis on sustainable development and fair labor practices.

Through its programs and activities La Lucha Space encourages people to produce and consume local food, art, music, and media in order to facilitate the exchange of information, ideas, and culture.

La Lucha Space brings together diverse individuals to participate in the creation of a culture that promotes local producers, works to strengthen the local economy, and cultivates a caring community.

Ongoing Activities

Plate of the Day: A meal is prepared Tuesday - Friday and made available to visitors to the space (our 'office', 2035 Prince) from 12noon - 2pm and 5 - 8:00pm.  The meal is prepared using primarily local ingredients (largely from Conway Locally Grown) along with ingredients purchased from local independent grocers of the area.  Meals are not completely ethical (in that some products may come from the industrial food system), but they are the creators effort to  prepare a meal from scratch in a way that is conscious of the its impact on the people who produced it and their environment.  The menu for the day is posted on Twitter

Quinoa cakes, rice, and plantains (Sandra - need some (help) with this caption!!)

La Leche League of Conway / evenings: First Thursday of each month at 6:30 in the Music Room.  The evening meetings of Conway's breastfeeding support group. Pregnant or nursing moms and children are welcome to come and learn about breastfeeding, ask questions, or get support. LLL membership is NOT necessary to attend.

Guerrilla Archivists:  Check out the groups wiki page for most up-to date info.

Music: La Lucha Space often organizes intimate music events featuring local and touring artists.  The space hosts touring artists in a way that encourages them to feel like a part of the community.  Supporters come to these events to see and hear music, not socialize with music in the background (as musicians often experience in restaurant/bar environments).  Many local acts consider the venue a home space to try new material, arrangements, or even play a show for the first time.

These and other events hosted or facilitated by La Lucha Space can be found in the (wiki) Events Board, Recurring Events, the organization's Twitter or website.  Please remember that Twitter provides the information specific to each day - including last minute changes.
