Barbara Algee-McGee was born and raised in Champaign-Urbana. She attended Champaign and Urbana schools and graduated from Urbana High School in June of 1969. She was one of the first to attend the Clerical Learner Program at the University of Illinois, and earned a certificate in clerical work studies. She has three children and five grandchildren. She has worked at the Champaign Park District for the past 26 years. She has truly enjoyed her work with the seniors and the district. She is a a member of the Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Rickey E. Parks. She has been a member of Pilgrim for 49 years, and has served the Trustee Ministry, Beautification Ministry and at present is working on the Building Fund Ministry and is a Travel Coordinator. She has helped coordinate Champaign‐Urbana Days at Douglass Park and has worked with the Champaign County African‐American History Committee.
