The Arbor formally began operations on September 30, 1997. It was the result of a formal call by a number of technologically-literate faculty that a facility be established to meet the needs for consultation in teaching and technology. The Arbor has been envisioned as an institutional continuation of the Summer Institute on Technology in Teaching, a week-long faculty-organized immersion in instructional technology. Not to be confused with: The Arbors.
