Purpose

Bernard Street Handmade Goods is a home-grown experiment in business, green chemistry, science, and community. It therefore serves many purposes. One of those purposes is to offer safe, affordable alternatives to products from the hygienic and cosmetic industries. Bernard Street Handmade Goods specifically avoids unnatural scents, dyes, artificial colorings, and other complex and unsafe chemical compounds to ensure the best quality products. While its own handmade products are designed for sale on the consumer market, Bernard Street Handmade Goods encourages others to experiment themselves with raw materials for making simple personal care and cleaning products. The owner is currently scheduling free workshop events to teach do-it-yourself experiments for soap-making and other simple home chemistry products. Events are scheduled via Facebook, and are linked to the business's page. Raw materials and essential oils are sold in retail quantities with local price-matching so Bernard Street is the cheapest place to go to buy and learn simple home chemistry methods.
