Established

October, 2008

Spooky Folk began playing on the eve Hallow's of October of 2008. Under the sincere tutelage of Kaleo Kaualoku, whose melodic abilities have crafted the energetic power behind Spooky Folk's sharp vibe; Petra, Scarlett, Chris, & Jesse joined forces creating a scope of rock and roll that drives intense live shows to the point of addiction. Spooky Folk has been nominated by the Dallas Observer Music Awards two years running for Best Indie Act, and was previously nominated for Best Song (Bible Belt), and Best New Band of 2010. Although none of the awards were garnished, the band strives forward to endlessly rock their whisky laden bodies into one of the finest outfits of entertainment in Denton, Tx. Spooky Folk has one full length, self-titled album, available for download on their website.

The band has close ties and friendships with the Denton music community, which has edified and shaped the music they are now playing. You can catch them playing live in many of the admired clubs in Denton and around the DFW area.

Band members are involved in several other music projects including New Science Projects, Hares on the Mountain, Alien Brew, Fox and the Bird, Fishboy, and Tiger, Tooth & Paw.
