The Stonewall Democrats of Denton County is an LGBT and allies political and service group in Denton County

History

Stonewall Democrats of Denton County was founded in August 2007. Democratic grassroots activists John McClelland, Dr. Edra Bogle, Jillian Baxter, and Dave Wozniak took the reigns and founded the first LGBT Democratic organization in the county.

SDDC is one of 5 Stonewall chapters in the DFW metro area. Dues paying members also belong to the National Stonewall Democrats in Washington D.C., as well as the Texas Stonewall Democratic Caucus (which acts as the LGBT Caucus in the Texas Democratic Party). SDDC is a registered state general political action committee.

Stonewall is America's only grassroots Democratic LGBT organization, with almost 100 chapters nationwide. It focuses on creating change in three ways: educating the LGBT community about the differences between the political parties; mobilizing the LGBT community to get out to vote on Election Day for fair-minded Democrats; and standing up when Republicans attack our families and our civil rights while leading the Democratic Party to continue improving its record on issues important to the LGBT community.
