In the Boston-Edison Historic District at 121 West Boston Boulevard is the former home of Clarence Monroe Burton (1853-1932), who was President of Burton Abstract & Title Co. and a local historian.  In addition to businessman, he was a lawyer and philanthropist.  As the founder and first president of the Detroit Historical Society, he gave his books and papers about Detroit and Michigan to the Detroit Public Library, which started the Burton Historical Collection.  His eclectic house was by architects Rogers, Bonnah & Chaffee, and was built in 1914.  As a book and document collector, Burton had the house made fireproof, constructed of steel and concrete.  The house is part of the Historic Boston-Edison Association driving/walking tour.  Please do not disturb current resident(s).
