Clarence St. is a northward continuation of the northern end of York Road, and leads towards the harbour.
Clarence Street was named after Prince William, Duke of Clarence (1765-1837), a brother of George IV. Prince William later became King William IV and reigned for 7 years from 1830.
Clarence Street was once the main centre of the coal trade in Kingstown.
