The Clock Restaurant was a 24-hour greasy spoon diner located on Alpine Avenue in Grand Rapids.

History

• The Clock opened in 1974 as part of a chain headquartered in Southfield, Michigan and was one of three Clocks in the area.
• The franchise ended, and the Alpine Clock continued independently.
• It closed in September 2003.
• The Clock reopened in January 2004 under new ownership.
• The Clock caught fire on June 16, 2005.
• The building was demolished in early 2006 to be replaced by a Q'doba.

Clientele

The Clock boasted a diverse clientele:

• Kids - As one of few places that young people could gather late at night, many Grand Rapids youth frequented the Clock.

Singularities

• The sign for The Clock had a working clock on it and bore the words "The Clock" and "Fine Dining".
• The Clock had table-top juke boxes that for $0.25 would play Neil Diamond, Elvis, Journey or Madonna tunes.
