17 McComb Street has apparently been demolished. Eugene L. Keet lived there until his death in 1961. His mother, Mary L. Keet, lived there with him. She was step mother to Dr. Ernest E. Keet.

The next resident appears to have been Marshall and Minnie Helen White, followed by the Robert Blue family in 1968 and Mabel L. LaBombard in 1973.  Helen Blue bought the property in 1977.

The house may have been demolished sometime after 1982.

County sells nine properties to village of Saranac Lake

MALONE — The Franklin County Legislature yesterday approved the sale of nine county owned properties within the village of Saranac Lake to the village.

The properties and immediate surroundings will be rehabilitated by the village and the Department of Housing and Urban Development and offered for resale, according to the resolution.

The village will pay $2,831.52 for three of the properties at the time of the sale, and nothing for the remaining six parcels. The properties are so debilitated, according to a Special Committee on Unredeemed Lands, that the county would not get enough to pay the back taxes if they were sold at auction. Most county owned property taken for back taxes is sold to the highest bidder.

The county will cancel $24,300.47 in back taxes and penalties due on the properties, but may get the money back later. According to the terms of an agreement between the county and the village, the county is to receive 25 percent of the sale price, but not more than $25,000 in all, when the properties are resold by the village.

The legislators agreed that the unusual procedure offered the best chance for the county to recover the back taxes due.

The former owners, locations and prices paid by the village are: —Mrs. Irene B. Turner, 30 Terrace St., zero; Mrs. Irene B. Turner, 28 Terrace St., zero; Fred Foster, 27 Alpine Terrace, zero; Sanford C.
