Here and There

SARANAC NEWSPAPER BATTLES AGAINST REDS

Local citizens are viewing with interest the hub-bub being raised in Saranac lake over Henry Wallace between the Adirondack Observer, a weekly paper, Station WNBZ and an unnamed sponsor of pro-Wallace time on the radio.

The pro-Wallace sponsors took spots on the air over the weekend urging listeners to write their congressmen to defeat universal military training and prepare for peace and not for war. Meanwhile, the Observer announced that they believed the messages were inspired and paid by Communists, and intimated they would name the party responsible for the flood of Wallace propaganda in Saranac Lake.

John F. Grimes, manager of Station WNBZ, has, however, been taking the brunt of both praise and criticism on the delicate subject, which has attracted nation-wide attention.
