Mrs John Spratgue, of Bloomingdale, N.Y., one of the kindest and moat respected ladies of that section passed away on August 29, last.

Mrs. Sprague’s maiden name was Almeda C. Chase, was born in North Stockholm, St. Lawrence County, N. Y., September 29, 1853, was a sister of the late A. B. Chase, of St. Lawrence Co., Was united in marriage to John Sprague, then of Duane, N. Y. January 3, 1870. Later on they moved to Franklin, N. Y., but this home being near Bloomingdale, they called their home Bloomingdale.

At the time of her death they had three sons and two daughters. They had lost by death two children. She was sick very near a year before her death, but made no complaints so that nobody but his immediate friends  knew how bad she was.

The children, all grown men and women were at her bedside when she passed away and were only too glad to know that they were there to witness the passing away of one of the kindest of mothers.

She was a member of the Wesleyan Society, of Vermontville, for over twenty years. Before her death she chose to be read at her funeral the 103 Psalm.

Just before she died she called her husband to the bedside and said how can I tell you, her husband said tell what,-- this is my last day with you and just think John of such a little step little step to my father's house where also is peace and comfort.

Her funeral was largely attended at the M.E. Church at Bloomingdale, the Rev. Mr. Hogle of Ellenburgh Center, officiating.
