OTIS—At Lake Clear Junction, N. Y.. suddenly of heart failure, July 27, Annie Mulligan, wife of Millard F. Otis, aged about 56 years.
Mrs. Mulligan was the daughter of the late Peter Mulligan, of Malone and her childhood and girlhood were passed here, where she had many friends and acquaintances. All were deeply shocked on learning that she had dropped dead Saturday night after returning from a business trip to Saranac Lake. It was only about three weeks ago that she visited friends in Malone and seemed in her usual health, although she had been somewhat indisposed for some time. Saturday night she went out to shut up some chickens and when she did not return Mr. Otis found her lying dead near the house. After her marriage to Mr. Otis they established their home at Lake Clear Jct., and had carried on Lake Clear Lodge, a popular vacation resort for tourists in the Adirondacks. Mrs. Otis was a landlady of unusual competence and energy and her courtesy and kindly care of guests had much to do with the popularity of the Lodge as a stopping place. She won the friendship and esteem of all with whom she came in contact and her death is deeply mourned by old Malone friends and the many new friends she had made during her married life at Lake Clear. Her remains were brought to Malone yesterday for interment, the funeral taking place from St. Joseph's Church of which she was long a devoted member. Mrs. Otis had no children but leaves surviving her husband, two sisters and a brother. These are Mrs. Fred Cornish, of Massena; Mrs. Elmo Brown, of Renaselaer, N. Y., and John Mulligan, of Lowell, Mass.
