SARANAC LAKE - Charles S. Brewster, 72, of Curtis Drive, Bloomingdale, died Sunday, April 10, 1996* at the, Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born April 10, 1924 1 in the town of Franklin, he was the son of Ross E. and Dorothy M. (Skiff) Brewster.  

Mr. Brewster was a lifelong resident of the Bloomingdale area and operated the Charles Brewster construction contracting business, there. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, 1 serving during World War II from Feb. 25, 1943 to Jan. 19, 1946. He was a member of the Trinity Chapel in Lake Placid and the Awana Group of the. Trinity Chapel.

Survivors include two brothers, Elmer of Bloomingdale and John of Saranac Lake; one stepbrother, William Lewis of Yadkinville, N.C; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one stepbrother, John Harris.

Calling, hours will take place from 7 to 9 tonight and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Bennett of the Trinity Chapel, officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery in Vermontville.

Memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Chapel of Lake Placid or the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department in care of the funeral home.

Correction...

The obituary for Charles S. Brewster in Monday's Enterprise contained  an  error.  Mr.  Brewster died Sunday, April  7,  1996. 1 The Enterprise regrets the error.  

 

Footnote:

1.  Note the Enterprise's April 16, 1996 correction to the published death date.  Further, a reader at one point changed the date of death to April 14, and changed his branch of the military to the Army, and indicated that he served as a Staff Sergeant.
