David A. Dunseath Jr.

David A. Dunseath Jr., "Mr. Dave D," 65, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, surrounded by his family after a 20-year battle with Parkinson's disease.

He was born on Sept. 27, 1951, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, and moved to Staten Island as a young child. David attended Richmond College for his undergraduate and graduate work and received degrees in psychology and education. He began his career in special education at Willowbrook State School on Staten Island. After relocating to Saranac Lake, he worked for Franklin-Essex-Hamilton BOCES (special education) and the Saranac Lake Central School District teaching math and computer science. In 1992, he moved to Syracuse and worked with Cayuga Onondaga BOCES as the assistive technology coordinator until his retirement. David called himself a jack of all trades but was considered a renaissance man by many. He loved photography, classic movies, woodworking, and vintage cars, but his greatest love was music. He was active in the theater, sang tenor in his church choir and loved to play piano and compose.

David is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cheryl (Jensen) Dunseath; daughter Ashleigh Dunseath; daughter Lauren Dunseath; and son-in-law Colin Hartnett; two brothers: Kirk (Mary) Dunseath and Philip Dunseath; aunt Muriel Niemi; and many other relatives and beloved friends.
