Dorothy Stephen was a court reporter, who contributed her talents as secretary to a number of community organizations in Saranac Lake. When she and Joseph Stephen, an attorney, were first married, they lived in a building behind the Linwood Cottage on Main Street. Later they bought a home on Academy Street nearby. Dorothy Stephen was one of the founding Board members when Historic Saranac Lake was incorporated in 1980.
