Edmund Duprey Dies Suddenly Yesterday

Edmund Duprey died suddenly yesterday noon at his hunting camp at Iron Burnt Mountain, near Ray Brook.

Mr. Duprey was born in Saranac Lake on May 29, 1904, a son of Syriac and Elizabeth Russett Duprey. He was a retired member of the Saranac Lake Police Department.

He is survived by his wife, the former Edna Moquin, one daughter, Dianne and two sons, Edmund R. and James, all of Saranac Lake. Also surviving are four sisters, Miss Jennie Duprey, Mrs. John E. Keough, Mrs. William Hall, Mrs. John Russ and five brothers, Leo, Raymond, Philip, Lawrence and Clarence, all of Saranac Lake. The body is reposing at the Keough and Son Funeral Home, where there will be a Rosary service tomorrow night at 8 o'clock. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Bernard's Church at 10:30 Saturday morning, with interment to follow in the family plot in Pine Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m.

THREE MEN AWAIT GRAND JURY AFTER HOLDUP

Committed to Elizabethtown Jail Following Arrest after Averyville Holdup

Three Saranac Lake men are in the. Essex county jail at Elizabethtown awaiting action of the grand jury on charges of grand larceny, following a hold-up last Thursday night.

According to the police, four men entered an establishment at Averyville, which is said to be run by Emery Brice for a Mr. Jewtraw. With guns drawn they held the proprietor and his wife, taking $180 in cash and a quantity of liquor.

Edgar Duprea, 25, pitcher on the Saranac Lake baseball team this summer, and his brother, Arthur, 22, of Payeville, and Ernest Foster, 28, of Lake Flower avenue, were placed under arrest after investigation by state troopers, who were assisted in making the arrests by Patrolmen William Putnam and Edmund Duprey of the Saranac Lake police. They were taken to Lake Placid and committed to the Elizabethtown jail by Justice of the Peace Thomas A. Leahy of Lake Placid.
