Simple Funeral Services at Home Friday Attest to Esteem in Which Leading Resident Was Held in Community
Funeral Services for Edmund S. Horton, prominent business man of this village, who died Wednesday morning, were held yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the home, 108 River Street.
Close friends of Mr. Horton attended in large numbers. The simple but impressive services conducted by the Rev. Hiram W. Lyon, minister of the Presbyterian church, of which the deceased had been for many years a leading member, serving as elder and in many other ways.
Bearers were elders of the church, including Dr. Hugh M. Kinghorn, W. F. Roberts, Duncan Paul, George F. Schrader, Dr. H. Beattie Brown and James Moody.
Burial was in the family plot at Pine ridge cemetery, where the committal service took place.
Through flowers in great profusion the affection felt throughout the community for Mr. Horton was made evident. The coffin was blanketed with pink roses and the room where the body rested was filled with appropriate floral tributes.
