Emmett Durr worked in the maintenance department at Ray Brook Hospital. He was in charge of showing films and of the radio station, WRB. Durr worked at Ray Brook from the 1930s until it closed.

Mr. Durr died 10/ 31/1977, and he is buried in St. Bernard's Cemetery.

A photo of him appears on page 80 in Saranac 1937-1940: A Memoir by Richard Ray.

Chris Brescia remembers that Emmett Durr helped find homes for animals before there was a humane society, and he showed up at Helen and Tony Brescia's house with kittens when Chris was a very young boy. One of them became Chris' first cat.
