Funeral Services For Ernest Woods Monday at Coreys

Funeral services for Ernest H. Woods, 44, who died Saturday afternoon at his home in Coreys, were held Monday afternoon at Foresters' Inn, Coreys.

The deceased was a member of the Masonic Lodge at North Bangor and for many years had been a frequent visitor in Mount Arab Lodge 847, F. & A. M., Tupper Lake.

A delegation of Masons from the local lodge, with Stanley W. Clarke, master, officiating, conducted ritualistic ceremonies at the grave. Mr. Woods was also a member of the Tupper Lake Grange and a director and active member of the Tupper Lake Rod and Gun Club.

He came to the Adirondacks 30 years ago as a youth, when his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Woods, moved from North Bangor and settled as pioneers at Axton where they conducted for many years, the Foresters' Inn, noted as a summer tourist and fall hunting resort for people from many sections of the country.

Fifteen years ago, after his father's death, Mr. Woods assumed charge of the hostelry with his widowed mother, who is still living. The hotel had been moved a mile from Axton into the Coreys sector, where still enjoys a large patronage.

For many years Mr. Woods conducted a passenger, baggage and parcel post delivery system and was contractor on the U.S. Postal Star Route between Coreys and Tupper Lake.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Anna LaBarge Woods; three daughters, Beatrice Isabelle and Pauline; one son, Fred, all of Coreys; three sisters, Mrs. Robert Beckman, Coreys; Mrs. H. R. Leary, Rochester; Mrs. Joseph Kelley, Philadelphia, Pa. He also has two cousins, Russell D. Woods and Earl Wilson, residing in Tupper Lake.
