CASES AGAINST SARANAC LAKE MAN ARE DISMISSED
Cases against Frank Birk, proprietor of the Rivermount Inn on the Bloomingdale-Saranac Lake road, made by prohibition authorities last fall, were dismissed in Federal court in Schenectady last week Wednesday by Judge Frank Cooper in conducting the term.
Attorney Joseph Greenberg, appearing for Birk, showed that the warrants were illegally issued and moved for dismissal on these grounds. The motion was granted by the court.

FRANK J. BIRK RITES TUESDAY
A high Mass of Requiem will be celebrated at 10 a. m. tomorrow in St. Paul's Catholic Church, Bloomingdale, for Frank J. Birk, who died yesterday at his home on the Bloomingdale road, after an illness of seven years.
Rev. Cornelius McMahon will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery.
Mr. Birk was born in Pola, Austria, on December 14, 1888, the son of Franz and Agnes Birk. He came to the United States in 1912 and established a restaurant business in New York City. In 1921 he opened the fashionable Ritz restaurant at Ampersand Bay on Lower Saranac lake.
In 1923 he built the popular Swiss Chalet Supper Club, his home and a cabin business on the outskirts of Bloomingdale. He sold the Swiss Chalet several months ago.
For a number of years he operated a fruit orchard in Venice, Fla., where he raised, packed and shipped citrus fruit.
Besides his wife, Louise S. Birk, he is survived by two sons, Robert S. Birk, of Bloomingdale, and Dr. Harold Frank Birk, of Boston, Mass., and six grandchildren.
His body will repose at the home until time of services.

Frank Birk Succumbs in Bloomingdale Sunday
Frank J. Birk, 68, former owner of the Swiss Chalet on the Bloomingdale Road, died early Sunday in Bloomingdale after an illness of seven years.
Born in Pola, Austria, December 14, 1888, Mr. Birk came to this country in 1912 and operated a restaurant business in New York City until 1921 when he opened the Ritz on Saranac Lake's Ampersand Bay.
In 1923 he built the Swiss Chalet and operated the supper club until it was sold earlier this year.
Mr. Birk is survived by his wife, Louise S. Birk; two sons, Robert S. of Bloomingdale and Dr. Harold Birk of Boston, and six grandchildren.
