Frederick C. Reeves was a guide and a caretaker.  He was a son of Joseph and Adeline Hickok Reeves.   He worked early on at both Rustic Lodge and Hiawatha Lodge with his stepfather Charles H. Wardner.  He guided extensively both in the Adirondacks and in Canada.  He was caretaker at Bull Point on Upper Saranac Lake for Henry Goldman and subsequently at Hemlock Ledge on Tupper Lake for Harry Levy of Cincinnati.

Frederick Reeves, 84, Dies at Home Here Sunday Morning

Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at Grace Methodist Church for Frederick C. Reeves, 84, who died at 7:60 a. m. Sunday at his home, 35 Lake st.

He had been ill since September. Interment was in Lake View Cemetery here.

He was born at Burlington, Iowa, Nov. 14, 1875, the son of Joseph and Adeline Hickok Reeves, and had resided in the Adirondacks since he was two years of age, living at Wilmington and Bloomingdale as a boy. On January 16, 1907, he married Miss Leah Hutchins of Fort Covington, who survives. They have since made their home in Tupper Lake, and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary here two years ago.

Mr. Reeves, one of the first members of the Adirondack Guides Association, was caretaker for Otto H. Kahn and Henry Goldman at Bull Point Camp, on nearby Upper Saranac Lake, for more than 25 years, and held a similar position at Hemlock Ledge on Big Tupper Lake from 1926 until his retirement in 1944.

Surviving, besides his wife, are one son, Fredrick Reeves, and a grandson, Peter Reeves Sperry, of this village; a half-brother, William Wardner of Lake Clear, and a half-sister. Mrs. Mallie Fribance of West Hartford, Conn.; and a nephew, Dr. Earl Reeves of Pittsfield, Mass.

Out-of-town friends and relatives who attended the funeral here Tuesday included Dr. and Mrs. E. Earl Reeves of Pittsfield, Mass., Mrs. W. G. Fribance of West Hartford, Conn., Mrs. Raymond E. Olson of Pittsford, N. Y , Peter Reeves Speery of Ithaca and Guy E. Hutchins of Lancer, Saskatchewan, Canada,

A multiple sclerosis fund will be established in his memory, to which friends who wish to do so may contribute.
